Special Language Impairment

eidiki glossiki diataraxi
Special Language Impairment (SLI) is a developmental language disorder and is characterized by a significant deviation or delay in the development of language skills, which is not due to neurological, sensory, mental or emotional deficits and manifests itself despite the appropriate social and learning environment.
There are several types of SLI: expressive type, perceptual type, mixed type.
However, children with SLI are not a homogeneous group, as some children have difficulty understanding, other children have problems with expression and speech production, while other children have difficulties in both areas. SLI is mainly manifested in syntax and morphology, but some children also have problems with phonology, semantics, vocabulary or pragmatics.
