Erythrophobia (fear of blushing) is the pathological fear of a person to blush in social situations and has a significant impact on the person’s functionality in daily life and in their emotional state. Erythrophobia as a psychological disorder, begins to exist when the person, due to their inability to hide the redness, which they expect and fear will appear in certain situations or in all their social interactions, leads to the limitation of their social appearances in which they expect to blush. The first step a person who experiences frequent redness should take, is to visit their doctor to identify and treat any organic causes, especially if the redness is accompanied by an increase in body temperature, sweating, palpitations and difficulty in breathing. Psychotherapeutically, erythrophobia is treated in a personalized program, by a specialized psychologist in whichever form it appears.
